This is beyond heartbreaking. The body of a 3-week-old baby girl who went missing Jan. 3 after a shooting in Long Beach, Calif., has been discovered in a dumpster near San Diego.
The baby, Eliza Delacruz, went missing from a Long Beach home on Jan. 3, one day after her parents and her uncle were shot there. The cause of Eliza’s death is still unknown.

Detectives from Long Beach travelled to San Diego County to help police investigate after the baby’s body was discovered behind a strip mall in Imperial Beach, outside San Diego, according to the Associated Press.
The San Diego County Coroner’s office ultimately identified the body as missing 3 week old Eliza, the AP reports.
Police Seeking Male Suspect In Shooting
Eliza’s mother, father and uncle were all shot in a Long Beach home on Jan. 2. Two victims are still in the hospital in critical but stable condition, while the third has been treated and released, according to the AP.
Police are searching for an adult male suspect who they believe is connected to the family in some way, but they have not yet revealed whether the man is a relative of Eliza’s.
“We believe that this is not a random act,” homicide Lt. Lloyd Cox told the Long Beach Press-Telegram. “We are going through the backgrounds of all the individuals who live here, but it appears to be very personal.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Eliza’s loved ones during this tragic time.
