‘Resurrection’: Marty Meets His Sister — Season 2 Episode 10 Recap
This week’s episode kicks off with Lucille (Frances Fisher) and Henry (Kurtwood Smith) searching everywhere for their beloved son, Jacob, who was kidnapped by his unhinged grandma, Margaret Langston (Michelle Fairley), during the winter finale. A violent storm strikes Arcadia in the middle of all of this, and as Elaine (Samaire Armstrong) is trying to get the power back on, a strange man bursts in and says he’s been struck by lightening but he “needs to save the boy.” But before Elaine can help him, he disappears!
A panicked Henry and Lucille tell Marty and Sheriff Fred (Matt Craven) that Margaret was the one who kidnapped Jacob and that they’re afraid she may try to hurt him. Elaine calls to tell Fred and Marty about the mystery man and they rush off to investigate.
The next morning, Marty sees the man walking down the street. He tells Marty that he was “looking for a boy but he is gone now.” The mystery man leaves and Marty joins Fred and Henry to continue the search for Jacob.
Meanwhile, Margaret and Jacob are holed up in her family’s old abandoned barn. Jacob asks his grandmother what it will be like when they die again and she promises that it will be a “wonderful adventure.” Creepy. But before we can learn what Margaret is plotting, Fred, Henry and Marty find them. Jacob is distraught and Margaret is furious. She tells her sons, “Deep down, I’ve always hated both of you.” Ouch!
Fred takes Margaret home and Jacob goes home with Henry. His mother is so relieved to see him, but he’s not so thrilled. In his eyes, his grandma did nothing wrong and he wanted to stay with her. Later, however, Jacob tells Lucille that he went away with Margaret because he didn’t want to hurt his mom anymore. “But I was thinking about you, and I didn’t want to go away anymore,” he tells his mom. Aww — you’re breaking our hearts, kid!
‘Resurrection’: Marty’s Sister Knows The Mystery Man!
Meanwhile, Marty is apparently in remission from the virus and Dr. Maggie (Devin Kelley) tells him that the stem cell serum is ready for him. Once Marty takes it, he will be cured within 24 hours.
Marty has a lot to live for these days. Not only is his “will-they, won’t they?” relationship with Maggie getting a little closer to “they will,” but also his long-lost sister, Jenny, is coming to live with him! She shows up to Arcadia and asks Marty, “Is it true? “Yeah,” he replies. “I’m your brother.” She asks to see his crescent scar as proof and he shows her. They share an emotional embrace and Marty tells Jenny that she’s going to live with him now.
Things are a little less warm and fuzzy with the Langston clan. Fred confronts his mother, Margaret, and asks her how she made his wife, Barbara, go away. Margaret confesses that she encouraged Barbara to “let go,” explaining, “That’s all it takes.”
Then, she finally tells Fred what happened with the returned who died at the hands of the Langstons in the 1930s. They were all chained up against the barn waiting to be killed for the fourth time, and Margaret, then 10 years old, heard them talking. One man in particular was distraught, she tells Fred, and another guy told him to just “let go” — and then she saw him disappear into thin air!
Margaret confesses that she was thinking about “letting go” herself but she thought of Jacob and changed her mind. She tells Fred that she wants to go to the facility and be with her own kind.
Marty takes Jenny out for ice cream and introduces her to Maggie. Then the mystery man shows up and Jenny runs into his arms and gives him a hug! She reveals that his name is Preacher James.
Later that night, Marty can’t sleep so he goes out into a field and stands in a strange crop circle shaped like his scar. He looks down and sees a daisy growing in the middle of it. Then he hears something brewing beneath the ground and leans his head down to listen. Suddenly a swarm of locusts shoots up into the sky! Marty turns and sees Preacher James, who reveals that he died trying to save young Marty during the flood. “This place is sick,” the preacher tells Marty, “but together, we will heal it.”
What does this mean!? We can’t help but think that this preacher seems like trouble. How about YOU, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
