Seven-year-old girl Sailor Gutzler is the sole survivor of a devastating plane crash in Lyon County, Kentucky that killed four family members, including her parents and sister.
What an incredible survival story. After a catastrophic plane crash on Jan. 3 that ended the lives of four relatives, the 7-year-old girl who survived wandered up to a nearby house in Lyon County, Kentucky for help. In a shocking miracle, the young girl was left with only minor injuries and has already been released from the hospital.

UPDATE: The family’s attorney, Kent L. Plotner, released a statement on Jan. 3 on behalf of the family, according to KFVS:
“The Gutzler family mourns the loss of Marty, Kim and Piper Gutzler and Sierra Wilder. We are devastated by this loss, but are confident that they rest in God’s loving arms. We ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time. Please pray for us, especially for Sailor Gutzler.”
Seven-year-old Sailor was with her parents, sister and cousin on the small plane that was flying from Key West, Florida to Mt. Vernon, Illinois, according to KTVI.
The crash happened on the evening of Jan. 2 and killed Marty Gutzler, 49, wife Kim, 45, Piper, 9, and cousin Sierra Wilder, 14, Daily Mail reports.
The little girl who survived wandered to a nearby home to ask for help and told resident Larry Wilkins that her parents were dead.
“She was bleeding pretty bad, her legs were bleeding, her face had a bloody nose,” he said, according to NBC News. “She was barefoot, only had one sock on…She told me that her mom and her dad were dead, and she was in a plane crash, and the plane was upside down.”
The survivor of the crash is not being named out of respect to the family. She was taken to the hospital for injuries, but has since been released.
The plane was discovered by Kentucky State Police before 11 p.m. The family was found dead inside the wreckage. The FAA received a distress call at 5:55 p.m. from a private plane, which is around the time the girl revealed the crash to the resident.
