How scary. While on vacation, Lindsay Lohan was diagnosed with a mosquito-transmitted virus called Chikungunya. Sadly, there are no treatment options for her.
Lindsay Lohan, 28, must be suffering from multiple different symptoms caused by the rare and untreatable virus, Chikungunya. The actress recently revealed that she was diagnosed with the rare virus after taking a tropical vacation, and now she’s urging her fans and followers to always remember their bug spray.
Lindsay Lohan Diagnosed With Rare Virus: Chikungunya
On Dec. 27, just two days after Christmas, the Mean Girls star shared the news that she had been diagnosed with an extremely rare virus called Chikungunya.
“Before I got [C]hikungunya,” she tweeted, along with a link to a photo of her watching the sunset over a tropical island on a jet ski. She included three very sad emoji’s, each of which appears to be crying.
Lindsay also told her fans to remember to wear bug spray — something that definitely would have avoided her contracting the untreatable virus that is known for being transmitted by mosquitos.
Feel better, Lindsay!
Lindsay Could Be Suffering From Fever & Chronic Pain
Since Chikungunya is very rare, there are few things people actually know about the virus.
One thing to know is that it causes a sudden onset of fever, which can last for an awfully long two weeks if it feels like it.
Another symptom is the pain, which includes joint pain or muscle stiffness that can often last anywhere from weeks to months to, even worse, years.
Headaches, Insomnia, and more horrible symptoms can also occur.
No word on how long Lindsay has had the virus, or how it is affecting her, but the three sad emoji’s are pretty telling of her overall morale.
