Absolutely devastating. Edward Herrmann — who played Richard Gilmore on ‘Gilmore Girls’ — passed away on Dec. 31, after battling brain cancer. Now, Lauren Graham has spoken out and released a heartfelt message about her beloved co-star.
Gilmore Girls actress Lauren Graham, 47, has spoken out on Twitter following the tragic loss of her co-star, Edward Herrmann, who played her father Richard Gilmore on the series from 2000 to 2007. In her heartfelt message she said that Edward was, “the kindest, classiest, most talented man.”

So sad. Lauren remembered her friend, co-star and on-screen father by paying tribute to him in a beautiful and heartfelt message on Twitter.
She wrote, “My friend Ed Herrmann was the kindest, classiest, most talented man. It was an honor and a joy to know him, a devastating blow to lose him.”
Edward played Richard Gilmore — Lauren’s character, Lorelai’s father — throughout the series which ran from 2000 to 2007. Edward will be greatly missed.

Aside from his role on Gilmore Girls, Edward guest-starred on The Good Wife, Grey’s Anatomy, and How I Met Your Mother.
In 1994 he also famously played Macaulay Culkin‘s dad in Richie Rich before winning an Emmy in 1999 for his guest appearance as a law profession onThe Practice.
