It’s a Christmas miracle! A man surprised his parents on Christmas morning with a hand-written letter announcing he paid off their mortgage — and he videotaped his parents’ heartwarming reaction. WATCH it here!

The plain white envelope may have looked like a simple gift, but when Joe Riquelme‘s parents opened the letter they were moved to tears. Joe, an app developer in New York City, surprised his parents with the most generous last gift of all in the form of a hand-written note saying he paid off his parent’s mortgage.

On Christmas morning, Joe presented his parents with a note that said, “Your house is paid off. Merry Xmas. -Joe.”

Joe’s mom read the note and began tearing up out of joy while covering her mouth out of complete and utter shock.

“I love you. Thank you, Papi,” she says through tears, before handing the note over to Joe’s dad. At first, he’s in silent shock and then begins tearing up himself. He thanks his son with a big hug.

On the corner of the letter is a list of three accomplishments his parents did for him with checkmarks next to all: raising kids, college loans, mortgage. Inside the letter were Bank of America documents proving everything was paid off.

The video concludes with a sweet group hug that makes us remember what the Christmas spirit is all about. It’s called the season of giving for a reason, and this proved that Christmas miracles still exist.

The video went viral on Christmas Day, and has since then reached over a million views.
