More good news for Sony Pictures! The company announced that YouTube along with several other online outlets will now stream ‘The Interview’ as a rental — before it is released in over 300 select theaters on Christmas!

It looks like The Interview will be available for everyone to see after all! After plenty of criticism following the cancellation of the James Franco and Seth Rogan flick, Sony Pictures announced on Dec. 24, that the film is now available to rent on Google Play, YouTube Movies and Xbox Video!

‘The Interview’ — YouTube Release

The Interview is officially available for everyone to see. After rumors began to swirl that YouTube would be streaming the movie, Sony Pictures announced that several other outlets would also be showing the flick including Google Play, Xbox Movies and their own websitePEOPLE reports.

Sony Entertainment Chairman, Michael Lynton said in the announcement, “It has always been Sony’s intention to have a national platform on which to release this film,” Deadline reports. “With that in mind, we reached out to Google, Microsoft and other partners last Wednesday, December 17th, when it became clear our initial release plans were not possible. We are pleased we can now join with our partners to offer the film nationwide today.”

Netflix is also in talks to stream the film, according to Variety.

The White House as well as the films stars seem to be thrilled about the release. A White House spokesman said, “the president applauds Sony’s decision to authorize screenings of the film. As the president made clear, we’re a country that believes in free speech and the right of artistic expression.”

James Franco Celebrates ‘The Interview’ Release Announcement

While James and Seth both stayed quiet after the film was cancelled, once it was announced that it would be released they both couldn’t contain their excitement.

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Seth took to Twitter to share his excitement. “The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn’t give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!”

Meanwhile, James posted a picture on Instagram of the pair singing with the caption, “VICTORY!!!!!!! The PEOPLE and THE PRESIDENT have spoken!!! SONY to release ‘THE INTERVIEW’ in theaters on XMAS DAY!”
