The ‘Radio City Christmas Spectacular’ is an institution, and millions of girls dream of one day becoming a Rockette. I interviewed two Rockettes, who spilled their flawless beauty secrets!
Did you know The Rockettes do their own hair and makeup before their Spectacular performances? They can have up to five shows a day, so we wondered how they keep their skin looking so glowy and perfect! Luckily, they spilled their backstage beauty routine!
Rockettes’ Beauty Secrets — Top Tips For Holiday Makeup
Rockette Sierra Ring told us exclusively:
“It’s definitely a fun little fact that we do our own hair and makeup … I don’t think many people know that. So, even though precision dance is definitely our area of expertise, you quickly have to learn to become a beauty expert. Our classic hairdo is a French twist, so you learn how many pins it takes to keep that twist in perfect, and the right amount of hairspray, and also what beauty products you need to use to take off all of the makeup we use as well.”
Rockette Jessica Osborne added:
“We’re really excited this year because we’re partnering up with POND’S. POND’S has been helping women take their makeup off for over 150 years, and the Rockettes have been bringing joy to audiences for over 85. We do up to 5, sometimes 6 shows a day, so we really need something that is efficient and trustworthy to take off our makeup. For me, the Wet Cleansing Towelettes are my favorite because they’re so easy and they really get the job done.”
“I have to say my go-to is the Cold Cream Cleanser. The Cold Cream Cleanser is something I’ve been using since I was really small, long before I became a Rockette. I still use it today to take off my makeup after performances, and I just find that it leaves my skin glowing. And the perfect balance of keeping my skin moisturized and not overly dry, so that’s been a go-to of mine for a very long time, and it’s Rockette tested and approved now,” Sierra told HollywoodLife.com.
How The Rockettes Stay In Shape
Jessica and Sierra (and all the Rockettes) are in amazing shape! It’s because they don’t take “time off,” even when the Christmas Spectacular is over!
Jessica told us:
“Many of us are fitness professionals in the off-season. We teach spin classes, cardio classes, or even dance classes. But we’re really versatile as a whole — we do all sorts of different things. Some women are businesswoman or mothers in the off-season. As long as you’re prepared, and ready when September rolls around for the Christmas show, you’re in tip top shape. Someone like me or Sierra — we both do fitness all year long, so it’s sort of a lifestyle choice.”
“I would say in our off-season, I love spin classes, and I also enjoy running in the park. And then in gearing up for the performances, we start rehearsing in September. And our rehearsal schedule is intense as well, it’s six days a week, seven hours a day, so that certainly helps build our stamina!”
