Another one bites the dust. Michael Pitt, who played the crazy pig farmer in season two of ‘Hannibal,’ will not be returning. So, who will take his place?

Boardwalk Empire‘s Michael Pitt wanted out of the land of squealing pigs! The actor, 33, has stepped down from his role as Mason Verger in NBC’s Hannibal, our sister site, TVLine reported. However, if you remember how last season ended, it does come at a fortunate time!

At the end of season two, Mason was drugged by Dr. Lecter’s hallucinogens and was being forced to cut off chunks of his own face — to feed his enemy, Will Graham’s dogs.

So, we know he’ll have a new look. That new character will be taken over by Joe Anderson, who has starred in Across the UniverseThe Divide and of course Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II.

Lucky for our creepy sides, there are pics of Joe as Mason already out — and it looks like his face is completely different!

So what can we expect from Mason this season? Well, we know that a new “definitely creepy” character will be introduced as Mason’s doctor. According to TVLine, he will be “attentive and gentle with Mason, a professional who cares about his work, but we get a sense he might be as sadistic as his boss — and a perfect fit to become his potential henchman.”

Hannibal will return to NBC in Spring 2015. Are you excited about the recasting? Are you sad Michael Pitt has left? Let us know!
