The music industry has lost a legend. Sadly, Joe Cocker has passed away, reportedly from a long battle with lung cancer.
Joe Cocker, 70, was best known for his soulful voice and his hit song, “You Are So Beautiful.” Unfortunately, his agent has confirmed that the popular British rocker — originally from Sheffield, United Kingdom — has passed away. Reports claim the singer lost his life to lung cancer, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Joe Cocker Dead At 70 — So Sad
How sad. We have lost another legend just before the Christmas holiday.
On Monday Dec. 22, it was confirmed that Joe Cocker has died, reports the BBC.
Although it is being reported that he died from an “undisclosed illness,” ITV claims that Joe’s death was actually caused by his long battle with lung cancer. The Yorkshire Post is also reporting that Joe’s death was caused by lung cancer.
In 1969, Joe put his own spin on The Beatles‘ song, “With A Little Help From My Friends.” The cover became one of his greatest hits, and his version was also the theme song for the 80’s hit show, The Wonder Years.
Another song that the British rocker was well known for was “You Are So Beautiful,” which he released in 1974.
He won a Grammy in 1983 for “Up Where We Belong,” a duet with Jennifer Warnes.
Throughout his career, Joe released over 20 studio albums and toured the world many times. Just 6 years before his death, Rolling Stone magazine named Joe as one of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
Joe’s last studio album, Fire It Up, was released in 2012.
Our thoughts go out to Joe’s family and friends during this difficult time.
