With only a day to create a look and the fact that the designers had to work in pairs, tension was clearly high in the workroom — but who was in and who was out?
Another week, another major twist on Project Runway All Stars! This time the contestants won’t be designing for their models — instead they’ll be designing for regular people, (and that’s not all)! This week the show teamed up with online dating site Match.com, where the designers will be put into groups of two and tasked with crafting looks for real-life singles before their first date. Helping NY singles looking for love? Not what you would expect on the runway! Regular people, menswear, individual style — clearly there are a lot of components the designers aren’t used to and anything can happen!
‘Project Runway All Stars’ Recap — Season 4, Episode 7 Date Night Challenge:
The designers head into the workroom and meet their singles, one at a time. They meet separately to keep an element of surprise in the competition. Since the designers are in pairs, they will be responsible for one look each. For some groups this works out perfectly — but that isn’t the case for others! Unfortunately some aren’t as comfortable as others when it comes to crafting menswear — we’re not quite sure how this is going to workout!
Designing for men is definitely a twist — and so is the fact that the contestants only have until that night to finish their looks! Anything can happen.
After the singles go on their date, it’s time to hit the runway — so, who made a great first impression?
Laverne Cox serves as the guest judge, and even gets one of the couples to kiss right on the runway! It was so cute to see the singles interact with each other. All in all, the judges were quite favorable about the looks — there weren’t many horrified comments or harsh terms. Although many did well, not everyone can live to see another week — or can they?
In a twist of fate the judges decide to keep the bottom two, Helen and Justin — so no one goes home! Their reasoning? All the singles loved their looks — we think it is only fair to keep them both, too! It was so sweet to hear that the judges believe in them — they shared such kind words with them, and they both definitely needed the refresher.
This week’s winner, Fabio, received a luxury spa day for two from Match.com — how relaxing! I’m sure all the contestants would love some spa time after competing on this show.
