Good thing Craig Wayne Boyd had some great friends! The country singer chatted with HollywoodLife.com after ‘The Voice’ finale on Dec. 16, and revealed that he almost walked away from music, but his friends pushed him to stay with it.
Craig Wayne Boyd was a fan favorite throughout the entire season of The Voice! He had an epic performance on the finale (and got to play with Lynyrd Skynyrd!), so HollywoodLife.com — and Blake Shelton — were shocked when he told us that he almost didn’t make music his career! (Spoilers ahead!)
Craig Wayne Boyd Interview
After winning season seven, Craig revealed to us back stage that he felt his hard work had finally paid off — we’d have to agree!
“I remember more than a year ago sitting in a pick‑up outside of a club after I had played to basically no one. And [I was] talking with my drummer and saying, ‘Listen, I may have to quit. Because it’s not paying my bills, and we’re losing my house,'” he told us, while Blake stood by his side.
“[I] lost my pick‑up, you know. I didn’t know what I was going to do. And him telling me, ‘Dude, you can’t do that.’ And then it was randomly the opportunity come up to go audition a few months out for The Voice. I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to go do that.’ And I’ve remembered that email coming, just the day after having that conversation,” he told us — and that story shocked Blake, too!
Craig then added that the big win was “validation that all that hard work” paid off!
We’d have to agree — plus, he gave Blake his fourth win! Were you happy with America’s choice? Are you happy Craig stayed with music? Let us know!
