Craig Wayne Boyd — ‘The Voice’ Winner From Texas
Craig grew up in the Dallas, Texas in the suburb of Mesquite. At the age of 25, after a life-changing trip to Nashville, he decided to move to Music City to pursue his dreams of becoming a star. He signed a publishing deal with EMI and hit the road.
Craig Has Been On Tour Before
After signing with EMI, Craig logged more than 1,000 shows in four years! He opened for acts like Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and Brantley Gilbert. He practiced his songwriting skills while touring and grew as an artist.
Craig Looked WAY Different Before ‘The Voice’
For those of you who did not follow season 7 from the beginning, Craig came on to the show looking like a different man! After the blind auditions, he got haircut and a goatee trim and ditched his ’70s-inspired fringe jacket. Craig Has The Cutest Son EVER
Craig has the most beautiful 2-year-old blonde hair, blue-eyed son named Jax. Blake’s son’s name is Jacks, ironically. When we chatted with the coach after the finale, he mentioned that was one of the reasons he felt an immediate connection to Craig.
Craig Almost Gave Up On Making Music Before ‘The Voice’
“I remember more than a year ago sitting in a pick‑up outside of a club after I had played to basically no one. And [I was] talking with my drummer and saying, ‘Listen, I may have to quit. Because it’s not paying my bills, and we’re losing my house,’” he told us, while Blake stood by his side.
We are so glad Craig decided to stick with it and audition for The Voice — he is now the winner and off to do amazing things.
