How awful. A military school that hosted children in grades 1 through 10 was violently attacked by members of the Taliban. Dozens of people are feared dead, and more than 140 of those casualties are children.
The Taliban is claiming responsibility for a horrific massacre inside a military school in Peshwar, Pakistan. Six gunmen stormed the school and savagely shot and killed approximately 141 children. The attack is being declared the “worst ever” in the troubled region. So sad.
Taliban Attacks Pakistan School: Kills 141 Children & More
This is a horrific tragedy.
In the early hours of Dec. 16, six gunmen stormed a school in Pakistan that housed over 500 students ages 5 to 18 years old.
The gunmen raided classrooms and shot children at random, reportedly picking them off “one-bye-one” claims the Daily Mail. It is also being reported that some of the gunmen were wearing suicide bomb vests, and CNN is claiming that at least two explosions were heard during the attack.
The outlet is now reporting that all 6 of the Taliban gunmen have been killed by Pakistan authorities.
Sadly, all of the deceased children are reportedly in the 12 to 16 years old range.
Taliban Claims Responsibility & Hostages
Since the devastating incident occurred, the Taliban terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
“We selected the army’s school for the attack because the government is targeting our families and females,” Taliban spokesman Muhammad Umar Khorasani explained. “We want them to feel the pain.”
Unfortunately, they succeeded.
As of 6am ET — 4pm in Pakistan — it was reported that children were being held hostage by the remaining Taliban gunmen. However, Pakistan authorities were able to take out the remaining gunmen and put an end to this brutal attack.
Our thoughts go out to the people of Pakistan, and the many families who may have lost a child or loved one during this vicious act of violence.
