It’s been a huge year for both J-Law and Kim K., but only one megastar can take the title of most Googled celebrity of 2014. So who captured the public’s interest more? Click to find out!
2014 will go down in history as the year that Kim Kardashian, 34, tried to “break the Internet” by going nude for Paper magazine. It will also sadly be remembered as the year of “The Fappening,” in which nude photos of some huge stars — most notably Jennifer Lawrence, 24 — were leaked online in a shocking violation of privacy. Though the two occurrences couldn’t be more different, both likely played a major role in making Jennifer and Kim the top two most Googled celebrities of 2014. Here’s who landed the #1 spot.
Most Googled Celebrity Of 2014: Did Kim Kardashian Or Jennifer Lawrence Land #1?
Jennifer Lawrence tops the list of most Googled celebrities in 2014, according to Google’s annual Year In Search report. We’re sad to say, however, that it probably wasn’t for the right reasons — of which there are plenty!
Yes, Jennifer made headlines for being the central victim in the celebrity nude photo leak, but we were more interested in how the Oscar-winning actress handled the hacking — with strength and grace. She spoke out forcefully against the hacking, labeling it a “sex crime” and standing up for women everywhere whose bodies have been sexually exploited and violated.
Jennifer’s list of accomplishments in 2014 alone is astounding. She was nominated for her third Academy Award, this time for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Rosalyn Rosenfeld in American Hustle. Although she lost out to 12 Years a Slave‘s Lupita Nyong’o, Jen did take home a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award for the same role, making her the youngest actress to ever earn all three nominations.
She also received rave reviews for reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen in the blockbuster smash The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, which hit theaters on Nov. 20.
Kim Kardashian Named #2 Most Googled Celebrity Of 2014
While Kim’s Paper magazine spread didn’t win her any awards or even break the internet, she has nonetheless proved herself a pop culture force to be reckoned with — now more than ever.
Kim wed Kanye West in one of the most hotly anticipated weddings of 2014, and the two graced the cover of Vogue magazine as the “#worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple.”
So HollywoodLifers, are YOU surprised that Jennifer was named the most Googled celeb of 2014? Were you expecting Kim to land the #1 spot? Let us know!
