Is hip hop’s royal couple in hot water for plagiarism? It turns out that Beyonce and Jay Z are getting sued by a Hungarian folk singer, who is claiming the couple borrowed her vocals for their hit, ‘Drunk In Love.’
Beyonce, 33, and Jay Z, 45, are being targeted by Mitsou, a Hungarian folk singer who is suing the couple for allegedly sampling her vocals on “Drunk In Love.” The sultry voice heard at the beginning of the song should be attributed to Mitsou, according to the lawsuit.
Beyonce & Jay Z’s ‘Drunk In Love’ — Couple Sued For Plagiarizing Hit Song
“Following Mitsou’s stirring featured solo vocal introduction, Mitsou’s voice continues to sing as Beyoncé begins to sing, to evoke foreign eroticism alongside the sexually intense lyrics performed by Beyoncé and Jay Z in ‘Drunk in Love’,” the suit claims, according to MTV.
Despite Mitsou’s claim that the power couple repackaged her sound from a 1995 song entitled, “Bajba, Bajba Pelem,” there is actually no trace of the original song, according to MTV.
However, Complex did discover a song named “Bajba, Bajba,” performed by another band, Ando Drum, which features Mitsou’s vocals.
In addition to the damages that Mitsou is claiming, she also wants authorities to ban the song.
