Major changes were announced over at Gucci, with the exit of both the creative director and CEO — but who will fill their roles?
Gucci announced a major shakeup with the exit of the brand’s CEO, Patrizio di Marco, and creative director Frida Giannini. Frida and Patrizio, (who also happen to be a couple in real life and have a daughter together), will exit in 2015. While the fashion house has already named Marco Bizzarri as the new CEO, the hunt for a new creative director is on.
Patrizio di Marco & Frida Giannini Leaving Gucci:
It is the end of an era for creative director Frida Giannini, who has been at the helm of the Italian label for close to a decade. The Fall/Winter 2015 collection will be Frida’s last, as she is stepping down at the end of February after the line shows in Milan on Feb. 25. Her partner, Patrizio, will exit on Jan. 1 after six years as CEO of Gucci.
Who Will Succeed Frida Giannini As Creative Director At Gucci?
With this news comes lots of speculation — who could fill the role of creative director at the fashion house? According to WWD, rumors are swirling that Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci, is in the running. The publication also names Joseph Altuzarra. Not only did he sit front row at the Gucci show, but the brand’s parent company, Kering, took a stake in the designer’s fashion house in 2013. Although the label has yet to comment on the rumors, only time will tell.
The news of Frida and Patrizio’s exit comes after much speculation that they would be leaving Gucci, although the couple firmly denied the rumors.
