Plus, with Kai back in Mystic Falls, no one is safe — and that means trouble for Liv, Luke, Tyler and Jo! (Yes, one guy brings a lot of baggage.)
It’s time to deck the halls in Mystic Falls — well, sort of. On the midseason finale of The Vampire Diaries, Stefan (Paul Wesley) takes another shot at getting close to Caroline (Candice Accola) and a shocking moment actually brings them together.
The Search For Kai
Let’s start out with the bad guy on the lose.
If Kai can get Jo reunited with that knife that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) took, she’ll get all her magic back and he can force her to merge — something that will kill her. Of course, not something Alaric, Damon and Elena (Nina Dobrev) can let happen. However, it doesn’t sound so bad for Tyler and Liv. If they merge, Jo dies and Liv and Luke don’t have to merge. But Luke isn’t up for that — he knows it needs to happen.
But Kai already had his teeth, er, knives, sunk in to his little family. He terrorized them until Jo can no longer take it and she’s forced to get her magic back — and it may just be enough to kill him. Naturally we’ll have to wait until mid-January to see that.
This also means that Bonnie is yes, still in Prison world spending Christmas alone — basically just remembering years of memories. This week wasn’t great for anyone, but it was probably the worst for her. And maybe for Jeremy who just had to spend the holiday missing her and looking at a Christmas tree, while also trying not to get killed.
Stefan & Caroline: Back To BFFs
As for Steroline, well Sheriff Forbes did everything she could to bring the two together — and we soon found out the reason she really wanted her daughter happy was because she was sick.
After she fainted, Stefan and Caroline had to admit her to the hospital where they found out that things were much more serious — she had glioblastoma, which could quickly spread to her brain stem.. The doctors weren’t talking, so after Elena compelled the truth out of them, Stefan decided to step up and be the one to actually deliver the news to Caroline. No, it wasn’t romantic (sorry Steroline shippers), but it was an amazing moment for them — and it really proved that he’s still that friend she needs. We can just keep dreaming that it turns into more, right?
They aren’t the only two that are uniting — Elena became more and more impressed with how much Damon is searching for Bonnie. After they spent the night “researching” (yeah, okay) and getting no where, she had to deal with the news of Sheriff Forbes — and after the bad day, who did she call? Who else but Damon — she even told him he’s the one she wanted to see. It’s about time.
Unfortunately, that’s impossible thanks to Kai. Yes, he decided to put a Cloak spell on he and Elena, so when she appears on Damon’s doorstep to have what we could hope wold be a romantic night in, he can’t even see her.
The Return To Mystic Falls
Kai’s return may have had one silver lining though — it brought everyone back to Mystic Falls (and Damon’s car back). Yes, the spell is gone and they can have their town back. It’s unfortunate there’s not many faces we know left.
You may remember that Matt was on a search to kill Enzo — well, of course, because Matt is human, he didn’t achieve this and Enzo decided to make it his goal to have Matt help him ruin Stefan’s life. Sounds dull of holiday spirit, right? Also, I have this huge fear for Matt. Why he thought he could take down Enzo who got out of a burning jail is besides me.
What did you think of the midseason finale, HollywoodLifers? Will Caroline finally forgive Stefan now? Will Elena ever make it back to Damon? Let us know.
