With all the amazing talent in Hollywood, it’s heard to choose who does and doesn’t involve a Golden Globe nod — but there are some that were left out that I just can’t understand.
The nominations for the 2015 Golden Globes were announced on Dec. 11, and while I’m ecstatic for Jennifer Aniston and Emma Stone, there are some serious snubs. Doesn’t everyone know that Tatiana Maslany plays pretty much the whole cast of Orphan Black? Click through my gallery of the 20 biggest snubs of the year.
Golden Globes Snubs
I have to start out with a little rant about Tatiana, who did receive a SAG nomination but was left out of the category for Best Actress in a Television Drama. All of the noms deserved it — Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Julianna Margulies, Ruth Wilson and Robin Wright are all incredible and with so many strong women on television, it’s a tough category. However, the 29-year-old actress plays twelve different characters on Orphan Black, it doesn’t really make sense that she wasn’t included.
However, she wasn’t the only one who was omitted. Where’s Kerry Washington? Scandal had a killer season and with Viola being up for How to Get Away with Murder, something doesn’t quite add up.
Of course, we can’t leave out a few more leading ladies who seriously should be recognized: Julia Roberts in The Normal Heart; Angelina Jolie for Unbroken, Lisa Kudrow for The Comeback, and Maggie Smith for Downton Abbey — just to name a few.
Forgotten Television Masterpieces
As for TV shows and films, there are many that were forgotten. With Sons of Anarchy having its last season and Mad Men finishing out this year, it’s crazy that neither popular and heart-wrenching shows grabbed a nomination.
Then there’s The Walking Dead, which keeps us on the edge of our seat season after season and Homeland, which is usually a powerhouse and just had its best season yet.
