A beautiful little girl who once stole the heart of Kate Middleton has sadly passed away at the tender age of 9. She suffered from a rare form of cancer. So sad.
Diamond Marshall, 9, suffered from a form of cancer that affected her soft tissues. The brave little girl survived her cancer three times during her short life, but sadly lost the battle on Dec. 8. Diamond was fortunate enough to not just meet Kate Middleton back in 2011, but to completely win over the Duchess’ heart.
Little Girl Beloved By Kate Middleton Dies From Cancer
Sadly, Kate and her husband, Prince William, received some heartbreaking news upon their return to England: Diamond Marshall had passed away.
Although Kate and Diamond only met once, it was enough to touch both of their lives forever.
When she was 6-years-old, Diamond wrote a letter saying that she would like to meet a real-life princess after watching Kate and Will’s royal wedding on television from her hospital room, reports the Daily Mail.
The Children’s Wish Foundation received the letter, and they worked their magic to make sure that little Diamond not only got her wish, she got to meet the princess she once watched on television.
Diamond & Kate’s Touching Meeting
Diamond got to meet Kate during her 2011 trip to Calgary, Canada, where she lived with her family.
When Diamond saw Kate she ran up to her and immediately threw her arms around her neck, which impacted the Duchess in ways we may never know.
So sweet. The pictures are still so touching to see, and Kate is clearly head-over-heels for Diamond as she smiles so big at the beautiful little girl.
Sadly, the undifferentiated sarcoma that Diamond fought for so long took her life on Monday, Dec. 8, as the little girl slept peacefully.
Our thoughts go out to Diamond’s family and friends during this difficult time.
