How sad. Just one week after their mother was killed inside a bathroom in Abu Dhabi, her family has shockingly revealed that her two young boys were waiting for her in the hallway when she was brutally stabbed to death.
Ibolya Ryan, 47, was senselessly killed inside a public mall bathroom in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 3. Sadly, she left behind her three children — twin boys Aiden and Adam, 11, and a daughter, Timea, 13 — as well as her devastated husband, Paul. For the first time since her tragic death, Ibolya’s family have talked to the Today Show about that horrific day and how they plan to make her proud even though she is no longer with them.
Children Of Murdered American In Abu Dhabi Speak
Ibolya’s children want the world to know that she wasn’t afraid of anything.
In their first interview, the three children — including the twin boys who were waiting for Ibolya outside of the restroom while she was being murdered — showed incredible strength as they spoke lovingly about their mother.
“She always just wanted to help you, she sacrificed herself for other people, would never rest if she knew that someone needed her help,” said Timea, Ibolya’s daughter, on the Today Show.
During the interview, the family sat close together, and the two twin boys kept their arms around each other for support.
Sadly, Paul, the children’s father, revealed in a separate interview without the boys present that they do not know the details of what happened to their mother.
Thankfully, they did not witness anything, nor did they hear their mother crying for help from where they waited for her in the hallway.
Abu Dhabi Woman Arrested In Ibolya’s Murder
On Dec. 4, just one day after Ibolya was killed, a woman named Dala al Hashemi, 38, was arrested under the suspicion she was responsible for the brutal killing, reports the Daily Mail.
Video footage from inside the mall shows a woman, allegedly Dala, in an all-black burqa taking an elevator to the floor where the bathroom is located.
If Dala is found guilty, she could be facing the death penalty. However, interestingly enough, due to the laws of Abu Dhabi, Ibolya’s husband has the authority to legally pardon her killer.
“I can’t believe I have the power to pardon. That is shocking to me. I don’t even want that responsibility. But we’ll have to wait and see,” Paul told CNN after finding out that he could ultimately save Dala’s life.
