We all witnessed the drama unfold on MTV’s ‘Laguna Beach,’ but now we know what went on behind-the-scenes! In a new interview, Kristen revealed how ‘hard’ it was to be on the super successful reality show.
Kristin Cavallari recently opened up about her experience on MTV’s Laguna Beach. During an interview on Where Are They Now?, she discussed how the network made her feel “used.”
Kristin Cavallari Disses MTV & ‘Laguna Beach’ — Says She Was Used & Manipulated
MTV’s reality show helped Kristin find fame and begin an acting career, but according to her, it came at a cost.
The Laguna Beach star had a lot to say about her time on the popular MTV reality show. She revealed, “we filmed the pilot and we had no idea what we were doing… we were just going along with whatever MTV was telling us what to do. We were kids, we didn’t know.”
She went on to say, “It was tough. I felt very used and manipulated. Basically my boyfriend at the time, the producers would have him go and take out Lauren Conrad, take her to dinner, bring her flowers, which would never have happened if it wasn’t for the show, for MTV.”
Ouch! That must have been tough for her to witness when the show actually aired. No wonder she doesn’t have anything nice to say about the network.
“I put up a wall, because I thought they were trying to take advantage of me,” Kristin stated.
Kristin Hated How She Was Represented On TV
That wasn’t all the mother of two revealed. When it came to seeing herself on TV, she was distraught.
“When I saw it air and I saw the way it represented me, I was really, really upset. I cried for hours and hours after I saw the first episode,” she said. Kristin went on to add, “It was really hard.”
During the interview, she did make a joke that you should need to be 18 in order to do a reality show. We don’t blame her!
You can catch the full interview on Dec. 7 on the OWN network.
