This breaks our hearts. Luke canceled his ‘CMT Artists of the Year’ appearance due to the sad loss of his brother-in-law who died on Nov. 29. Luke will be staying with his family in Georgia during this difficult time.
So sad. Luke Bryan, 38, who continues to take the country music scene by storm, canceled his appearance on the CMT Artists of the Year special in Nashville on Dec. 2, as he mourns the tragic loss of his brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, who died on Nov. 29 at age 46.
Luke Bryan At CMT Artists Of The Year? — The Sad Reason He Didn’t Attend
Ben was the husband of Luke’s late sister Kelly Bryan Cheshire, who passed away suddenly in 2007 at the age 39. Ben and Kelly are survived by their three teenage children.
Luke is spending time with his family in Georgia during this hard time, and will not be attending the ceremony like he originally anticipated. Luke co-officiated Ben’s funeral, which was held on Dec. 2, according to ABC.
Luke has unfortunately dealt with tragic loss in his family before. Not only has he lost Kelly and Ben, but his brother passed away in a car accident in 1996. The “That’s My Kind of Night” singer continues to honor his late brother and sister, as he sweetly acknowledged them when he won the CMA Awards Entertainer of the Year on Nov. 5.
Luke Bryan’s Performance At The CMA Awards — Roller Coaster
Luke’s performance of Roller Coaster at the CMA Awards was by far one of our favorite ones yet. Roller Coaster is one of the biggest hits singles off of his fourth studio album Crash My Party. We love how Luke varies the styles of his performance, as it was completely different from the booty shakin’ hit Play It Again which he performed at the CMA Music Festival on Aug. 5.
Our thoughts go out out to Luke and his family during this difficult time.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you sad that Luke won’t be appearing at the CMT Artists of the Year? Tell us your thoughts below.
