Fans have long been puzzled by Daryl’s sexuality on ‘The Walking Dead’, and on Nov. 30, creator Robert Kirkman confirmed what his sexual orientation is. See what he said!
Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) has been a major player since season one of AMC’s The Walking Dead, though fans have often been perplexed by his quiet sexuality. The Walking Dead‘s creator Robert Kirkman finally addressed Daryl’s sexuality on Nov. 30 during the after-show Talking Dead, and gave us a straight answer on what it is!
Is ‘Walking Dead’s Daryl Gay? — Creator Finally Reveals Character’s Sexuality
“I can make it official: Daryl Dixon is straight,” Robert said, according to the Daily Mail. Interestingly enough, Robert also explained that they intentionally play him as “somewhat asexual on the show.”
“He’s a very introverted character and I think that’s some of his appeal,” Robert continued. Daryl is a very humble character who doesn’t have very much luck (or interest, really) in the love department, but that’s a surefire sign of his character’s introversion and not a statement of his sexuality.
The question of his sexuality started brewing when he developed a close bond with his fellow survivor Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride). We were definitely wondering ourselves if a romance was developing between these two, however, after the sad and shocking death of good friend Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), romance is probably not on Daryl’s mind.
Beth Dies In Emotional Mid-Season Finale
The violent mid-season finale left fans in an uproar surrounding Beth’s tragic and unexpected death.
Beth used scissors to stab Dawn, and her instantaneous reaction was to shoot Beth in the head, and everyone, including Beth is clearly shocked. Daryl becomes overwhelmed with emotion and shoots Dawn. The real tearjerker came when Daryl endlessly cries over Beth’s death as he carries her lifeless body out of the hospital. So incredibly sad. (Our full recap on the episode can be read here!)
