Kayne delivered one of his most brilliant live performances of all time during the World AIDS Day concert in New York City on Dec. 1. And the best part is that it was all for a great cause!
Kanye West, 37, and more huge stars were tapped to perform at Bono‘s World AIDS Day concert after the U2 frontman was sidelined by a serious bike accident, and Yeezy definitely didn’t disappoint! We absolutely loved watching him perform a medley of his hottest hits!
Kanye West At World AIDS Day: His Amazing Performance In New York City
The crowd went wild when Kanye took the stage to perform his hit songs “Power”, “Jesus Walks”, “Touch the Sky” and “Stronger”, live from New York City’s Times Square on Dec. 1.
Kanye poured his heart and soul into the powerful set and we’re sure it inspired fans to educate themselves about AIDs and find out what they can do to help those who are living with the virus.
Yeezy’s energetic performance definitely brought a unique edge to the concert, which also featured a more somber performance from Carrie Underwood. Bruce Springsteen and Chris Martin both did an amazing job filling in for Bono in U2 Minus 1. We absolutely loved this line-up!
U2’s Bono: ‘This Year Is A World AIDS Day Like No Other’
Even though Bono wasn’t able to participate in the concert, he still oversaw it and helped spread the word about the importance of World AIDS Day.
“This year is a World AIDS Day like no other,” the U2 frontman said before the show in a statement from Dublin. “The world reached a tipping point in the fight against AIDS — more people were newly added to life-saving treatment than were newly infected with the virus. A lot of people are calling it the beginning of the end of AIDS.”
“We wouldn’t be at this point without American leadership, people from the left and the right,” he added. “Today, 13 million people have access to life-saving treatment, up from 300,000 just over ten years ago. Americans don’t know the role they’ve played in this fight. Tonight’s event is to inform them and thank them.”
