‘Fashion Police’: Kathy Griffin Replacing Joan Rivers
“Not only was Joan a trailblazer, she was also a dear friend and mentor to Kathy, who will no doubt continue her legacy and do the series justice by bringing her own unique comedic style and tell-it-like-it-is personality to the host chair,” Jeff Olde, the Executive Vice President, Programming and Development, E! confirmed in a statement, after tons of speculation that Kathy would step in for Joan, as HollywoodLife.com reported.
“I get it! These are some big shoes I’m going to fill. Joan was truly one of a kind,” Kathy said. “Now I hope you will accept me for me. I’m just Kathy. Did I say I’m just Kathy? I meant I’m Kathy F***ing Griffin and you celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners. I am not holding back so DAMMIT let’s have some fun!”
Sounds like we’re in for quite the ride with Kathy!
Brad Goreski Joins Panel: George Kotsiopoulos Not Returning
Brad Goreski also joins the new panel, in lieu of George Kotsiopoulos who will not be retuning. The celebrity stylist rose to fame, working alongside Rachel Zoe and most recently starred on his own Bravo show, It’s A Brad Brad World.
Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne are both set to return to the series, which will no longer air weekly. Fashion Police will debut 17 new episodes throughout the year, covering special events and award shows such, including the premiere Golden Globes episode (Jan. 12, E!) and New York Fashion Week.
Before Kathy got the gig, Giuliana told HollywoodLife.com how grateful she is that Melissa is allowing the show to go on. “I have to say that I am happy that it is returning and that Melissa Rivers gave her blessing,” the E! News host told us EXCLUSIVELY. “But personally, I have to be honest, it’s going to be tough, but the executives at E! are taking it very seriously and they are thinking of all sorts of scenarios and all different people and I am sure that they will make the right decision. But right now I don’t know how they are going to make that decision of who will join. Everyone that has been mentioned… are all people that I really like and I am fond of so I really trust in E! I think they can handle it and they know what the best decision is to make.”
Joan passed away on Sept. 4, 2014 from hypoxic arrest, after complications from a routine procedure at Yorkville Endoscopy in New York City.
Fashion Police will return Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 with coverage of the Golden Globes.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think, Joan Rangers? Will Kathy live up to Joan? How about Brad — are you happy to see him on the panel or are you sad that George is no longer part of the cast? Let us know!
