After receiving backlash for slamming Sasha and Malia Obama’s appearances at the Turkey Pardon, GOP staff member Elizabeth Lauten has decided to step down.
On Monday, Dec. 1, Elizabeth Lauten — the now former Communications Director for Tennessee Representative Stephen Lee Fincher — confirmed that she would be resigning from her position with the GOP. Elizabeth’s resignation came just days after she attacked Sasha and Malia Obama, 13 and 16 years old, respectively, in a lengthy Facebook post.
Elizabeth Lauten Steps Down After ‘Classless’ Sasha & Malia Comments
If you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen.
That’s exactly what Elizabeth, reportedly in her 40’s, is doing after she decided to publicly attack the teenage daughters of President Barack Obama in a Facebook post.
Elizabeth confirmed to the Washington Post on Monday, Dec. 1, that she had resigned from the GOP following the backlash of her awful attack on two young girls’ appearance.
As if demanding they show more “class” wasn’t enough, Elizabeth continued to write that the girls looked more like they were waiting for a “spot in a bar” as opposed to attending a presidential appearance. Yikes.
Elizabeth Admits She Was Wrong
Shortly after resigning, Elizabeth revealed that she reacted to another article about the girls before writing her post on Facebook.
“When I first posted on Facebook I reacted to an article and I quickly judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager. After many hours of prayer, talking to my parents, and re-reading my words online I can see more clearly just how hurtful my words were,” the former GOP staffer wrote.
It is no secret that Barack and Michelle have been trying desperately to keep their two young daughters shielded from the press and the scrutiny during their time in the White House. Up until now, it appears that their plan has been working pretty well.
