It was the first of many Thanksgivings Melissa Rivers would have without her beloved mother Joan Rivers, and this year was especially difficult. Poor Melissa. HollywoodLife.com has found out EXCLUSIVELY how Melissa is coping this holiday season.
While Melissa Rivers has much to be thankful for, this Thanksgiving was mentally and emotionally draining for her, HollywoodLife.com can EXCLUSIVELY tell you. The holiday was the first without her dear mother Joan Rivers, who sadly passed away in Sept. 2014. However, Melissa’s fond memories of Joan on Thanksgiving are giving her a reason to stay strong during the holiday season.
Melissa Rivers’ Thanksgiving: Why The Holiday Was Hard For Her
This year was noticeably difficult for Melissa and her family because Joan and her loving heart was missing.
“Mel and Cooper miss her and this was an extremely sad and difficult Thanksgiving,” a source close to family revealed EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com.
Thanksgiving was by far Joan’s favorite time of year. She enjoyed giving back to the community and she was renowned for throwing one amazing Turkey day party, too.
“Melissa remembers countless Thanksgivings where her mother would get up at the crack of dawn, get dressed and do hours of service delivering food to those in need,” our source continued.
“This would be Joan’s routine on many of Thanksgivings and she’d take Copper [Endicott] too. Then, after she fed everyone she could, she’d come home, change and have a meal for family and friends.”
Joan always taught Melissa how to be thankful for what she has, and Melissa is remembering those lessons now more than ever.
“Those lessons, that bonding with Melissa and Cooper, the time spent helping others, that was Joan’s life,” our source continued.
