Talk about terrible timing! Former WWE wrestler, CM Punk revealed on Nov. 27, that he was actually fired on his wedding day and revealed that the organization, ‘doesn’t do anything to protect the wrestlers.’
Sorry CM Punk (Phil Brooks) fans, but it doesn’t appear that he will be making a comeback in the WWE in the near future. On Nov. 27, the former wrestler told Colt Cabana on his “Art of Wrestling” podcast that he had been cleared to fight without seeing doctors first and was fired from the WWE on this wedding day.
CM Punk Fired — Announces He Was Let Go On His Wedding Day
This is definitely not an amicable split. CM revealed to his friend, Colt that the organization actually seemingly turned a blind eye to his injuries and allowed him to compete without first seeing a doctor.
“I remember when I was supposed to go back to Birmingham and get cleared before I came back to wrestle from my elbow,” he then revealed that he didn’t think he would be sent back to actually wrestle.
During his story, CM called out two of the organizations doctors saying that they spoke to one another and cleared him without actually taking a look at his injury. He also spoke about his fellow wrestler, Ryback (Ryan Reeves) who he referred to as “steroid guy” and accused him of kicking him so hard in the stomach that it actually broke his ribs — and he received no apology.
He continued to slam the organization saying, “WWE doesn’t do anything to protect the wrestlers, they do things to protect themselves. … They don’t let everybody know that they’re doing all these fantastic things for concussions for ‘the boys.’ ”
It sounds like they are never going to get back together and the former wrestler admits that he was let go — on his wedding day.
WWE Responds To CM Punk’s Allegations
The WWE did not waste much time responding to the allegations. Yahoo! Sports reports, that they were sent the following statement from the organization.
“WWE takes the health and wellness of its talent very seriously and has a comprehensive Talent Wellness Program that is led by one of the most well-respected physicians in the country, Dr. Joseph Maroon.”
