The time has come for Gwen to give her red chair back to Christina. The ‘Hollaback Girl’ has to step aside and let the original blonde bombshell judge continue on with the show. Poor Gwen!
Gwen Stefani, 45, did a great job filling in for Christina Aguilera, 33, on The Voice — and now she’s sad to leave! But before you get mad at Xtina, keep in mind that she was the original mentor and she’s been scheduled to return all along.
Gwen Stefani Jealous Of Christina Aguilera? — ‘Voice’ Judge Admits She’s Envious
Gwen is a strong and confident entertainer, but recently she admitted to feeling a bit jealous of Christina’s full-time position on The Voice. It’s too bad there can’t be two leading ladies on the show!
“If they asked me, I would… It makes me so jealous when I think they’re doing it without me,” Gwen told BuzzFeed. “I’m like, ‘What is going on? This is so awkward.’”
Christina’s return wasn’t a surprise though. “Everyone knew she was coming back once she left,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “It was always the plan.”
The No Doubt star will definitely be missed on the show!
Gwen Connected With Her Fellow Judges
Although Gwen has to step aside and let Xtina return to her mentor role, she’s leaving the show on good terms. One of her fellow judges has nothing but praise for her — Pharrell Williams made quite a connection with Gwen during her time on the show.
“I can’t quite put it into words that she does, but we definitely have a connection, a musical connection that continues to evolve,” he tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “So I consider it an honor because I get to sit and watch. Whenever we connect and I leave the studio, it’s like WHOA!”
When it comes to collaborating with the “Baby Don’t Lie” hitmaker, Pharrell tells us, “Sometimes you know what it’s going to be when you go in but you don’t know how it’s gonna turn out. And when you walk away from the studio that night, driving home and listening to it over and over and over again, like then I text her like, ‘This feels amazing.’”
“I love being in the position to say, ‘Thank you. Thank you for the opportunity of us getting together again,'” he adds. “And seriously, this time I think we did spark the fire.”
Wow. Gwen definitely left her mark on Pharrell and we’re excited to see their partnership blossom!
