It’s official. After months of rumors, on Monday, Nov. 24, HBO confirmed Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch’s roles in ‘True Detective.’
‘True Detective’: Rachel McAdams & Taylor Kitsch Join Season 2
Rachel McAdams, 36, Taylor Kitsch, 33, and Kelly Reilly, 37, have been cast in True Detective Season 2, opposite Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell, HBO confirmed on Monday, Nov. 24.
Rachel will star as detective Ani Bezzerides whose unorthodox ethics will often put her compromising situations; Taylor will take on troubled California highway patrol officer, Paul Woodrugh; and Kelly, who most recently starred in ABC’s short-lived Black Box, will play Vince’s accomplice wife, Jordan.
Rachel’s role is expected to be the show-stopping lead of the season, HollywoodLife.com previously reported, rather than the male duo breakout of the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Vince Vaughn & Colin Farrell Lock Down ‘True Detective’ Leads
Colin and Vince landed the two male leads, HBO announced on Sept. 23, which will be completely different from Matthew and Woody’s roles.
Colin will play Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him,” and Vince will take on Frank Semyon, a criminal “in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner,” the network released in a statement, adding that the eight-episode series has begun production in California.
