Cara acted as Karl Lagerfeld’s muse once again in a new, glamorous Chanel campaign. Alongside Pharrell Williams, Cara makes her singing debut in a short film! Watch the preview below.
Karl Lagerfeld is the mastermind behind Chanel‘s latest Métiers d’art collection in Salzburg, and Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams had the honor of starring in it’s accompanying film! The project, titled “Reincarnation,” tells the historical tale of the Chanel jacket with added wit and humor. We can’t wait to see the whole thing!
Cara Delevingne’s Chanel Campaign With Pharrell, By Karl Lagerfeld:
Cara has shocked us before with amazing spreads, but this is our favorite campaign yet! At seven minutes long, “Reincarnation” runs more like a long clip than a short film — and it reenacts a key scene in Gabrielle Chanel‘s life. While vacationing in Austria, Chanel falls in love with the jacket worn by an elevator operator, (played by Pharrell), and finds the inspiration for what is now Chanel’s signature jacket.
The featured song in the short film is an original composed by Pharrell, “CC the World” — and he sings it with Cara Delevingne! Word is that Cara’s singing voice is absolutely beautiful, and we are so excited to hear her duet with Pharrell.
Cara Delevingne: “So Happy” To Work With Pharrell:
In an interview in Paris, Karl shared that Cara “wanted to sing for a long time,” and she expressed that she was ecstatic when Pharrell informed her that he wanted to work with her: “I was so happy, I think I screamed down the phone at him.”
Karl expressed that it was Pharrell who suggested working with Cara on the project, and that the entire concept of the film was created around the iconic duo.
Now we won’t spoil it for you guys, but the majority of the film portrays Pharrell and Cara as a reincarnated imperial couple that come to life from a painting and get their groove on — royal style.
Other Chanel regulars are featured in the film as well such as Lady Amanda Harlech, Baptiste Giabiconi and Heidi Mount. Lagerfeld also added that the cast will reunite for an ad campaign that he will shoot for Chanel’s spring/summer Paris-Salzburg collection.
The film is slated to premiere December 1, one day before the collection takes to the runway in Paris.
