Violence is not the answer, but it is when you’re living in a zombie apocalypse. On the Nov. 23 episode of The Walking Dead, Carl (Chandler Riggs) presents Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) with a variety of weapons so he can learn to really survive.

‘The Walking Dead’: Carl & Father Gabriel In ‘Crossed’

There’s only one episode left before the midseason finale of The Walking Dead, and the show’s been building tension over the course of the season.

Gone is the baby Carl with his innocence still attached, and hello to a teenage hellbent on survival. In a sneak peek of “Crossed,” Carl pleads with Father Gabriel to learn how to defend himself.

“Pick one,” Carl says to Father Gabriel about the weapons before him. Meanwhile, Father Gabriel is vigorously scrubbing out the blood from the church carpet.

“You need to learn how to defend yourself,” Carl continued. “We can teach you.”

“Defend myself?” Father Gabriel replies. “They said they’d go.”

That didn’t sit well with Carl. “They were liars and murderers,” Carl retorts.

As Carl tries to explains his stance to Father Gabriel, Michonne (Danai Gurira) looks concerned. Carl seems to be morphing into his father Rick (Andrew Lincoln) more and more each day.

However, we kind of have to go with Carl on this one. It’s bad, bad world out there.
