Jared Leto As Joker? — Actor Responds To ‘Suicide Squad’ Casting Rumors
When asked about whether he would be taking on the part in a new interview with MTV, Jared replied, “You know there is a film called Fight Club, my friend, and you know what the first rule is, don’t you?” (The first rule, of course, is: You do NOT talk about Fight Club.)
Oh Jared, we love you.
“Enough said,” he jokes. “No, I’ve been reading the scripts. It was a pretty incredible year. There was this little event called the Oscars that basically changed my life and a wonderful film that I was really proud to be a part of, Dallas Buyers Club. So I’m not really in a hurry to jump into another film unless it’s something that I absolutely can’t say no to. I want to make sure it’s special because the previous experiences were really really special.”
We totally respect that, Jared. So… does this mean you’re NOT playing the Joker?
Cast of ‘Suicide Squad’ Revealed
If Jared is going to play the Joker in Suicide Squad, then he’d be in very good company. Margot Robbie, 24, has already been tapped to play DC Comics’ Harley Quinn, the Joker’s henchwoman and longtime love interest, in the character’s first-ever big screen appearance. What an oddly hot villain couple!
Suicide Squad is expected to hit theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
