Chris Pratt Should Have Been Sexiest Man Alive 2014
First and foremost, I want everyone reading this to know that my beef is not with Hemsworth.
Hemsworth is incredibly sexy. He’s got that Australian accent, a muscular surfer dude look, he’s Thor, and he’s a doting father. Those are all very sexy things.
But what did he do in 2014 that proved his sexy? Why did he get crowned Sexiest Man Alive when he did not release a single film the entire year? The most exciting thing that happened to Hemsworth in 2014 is that his wife, Elsa Pataky, gave birth to twins — and I’m pretty sure she did all the delivery work!

But, I digress. The real subject matter here is that Chris Pratt deserved the title much more than Hemsworth, and there are a million reasons why.
His flawless rock-hard body, as seen above, is only one of them.
1.) ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Was The #1 Film Of 2014
A year ago if you would have asked someone who Chris Pratt was, there is a good chance they wouldn’t have had an answer for you. While he is one of the stars of Parks & Recreation, he was not exactly a household name. That is, of course, until he mastered the lead role — Peter Quill, better known as Star-Lord — in Guardians of the Galaxy. The film took an unpopular Marvel comic book series and a chubby TV star and turned them both into rock stars. As of Nov. 2014, Guardians was the #1 film of the year after raking in over $330 million dollars.
For the record, Thor only brought in $181 million in 2011, and the sequel only brought in $206 million in 2013. Just saying.
2.) Chris Physically Transformed For The Role Of Star-Lord
Box office numbers aside, the amount of work that Chris put into becoming the lead role of a Marvel movie is out of this world. Galaxy pun totally intended. Before being cast as Peter for the film, Chris weighed in at around 250lbs — and was known as being the adorably chubby sidekick, Andy Dwyer, on Parks & Recreation. But director James Gunn believed in Chris, and that was all that it took. Well, that and a complete and total lifestyle makeover for Chris. Not only did he hit the gym hard, but he changed his diet and lost over 65lbs of flab and turned what was left into pure muscle.
That is the sort of dedication and hard work that deserves to be rewarded with something like the Sexiest Man Alive title, no? Not everyone can be born with Hemsworth genes.
3.) ‘Parks & Recreation’ Is Coming To An End
Even though he is a big-time movie star now, Chris got his start on television. Right now he stars on Parks & Recreation, but he really got his start on Everwood and The O.C. back in the day. However, despite it’s dedicated fan base and hilarious comedic team, Parks is finally coming to an end in 2015. Chris and the gang — including Aubrey Plaza, Amy Poehler, and Adam Scott — are filming their last season as we speak. In Nov. 2014, Aubrey told Jimmy Kimmel Live they only had three episodes left to film and I have to admit, my heart sank. The show would not have been half as funny as it was without Chris’ impeccable physical comedy and improv, which will be sorely missed with Parks says goodbye.
4.) ‘Guardians’ Wasn’t His Only Blockbuster Hit In 2014
Believe it or not, Chris was also the voice star of 2014’s massive animated hit, The Lego Movie. While Guardians is the #1 film of 2014, Lego Movie comes in at #3 with $257 million at the box office. And to think, Chris didn’t even have to take his shirt off for the film!
5.) He’s Funny, Charming, Loves His Wife, & Is A Total DILF
Career highlights aside, Chris is the FULL PACKAGE. He’s hot, he’s a huge movie star, he’s hilarious — with and without a script, and his charm oozes off of him in interviews, roles, and everything else that he does. But that’s not all. Let’s not forget his adorable relationship with his wife, Anna Faris. Those two are so crazy-in-love it’s almost sickening. Let’s not forget that he often likes to post Instagrams after french braiding her hair, which is something not every man would want to openly brag about. But Chris does, and that’s just one of the many reasons why I swoon for him 24/7.
Oh, and he is OBSESSED with his son, Jack Pratt, who is 2 years old. Who doesn’t love a man that loves his kid more than anyone or anything else in the world, am I right?
Don’t worry, Chris — you’ll always be my Sexiest Man Alive. (Sorry, Anna!)
