‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’ Movie — Popular Children’s Book Heading To Theaters
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is back to scare you again! According to Deadline, the stories are heading to the big screen with John as the screenwriter after Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton — the writers behind the Saw — movies were replaced.
The site reports that John is going, “back to the source material for his take and a director will be the next piece to fall into place.”
Alvin Schwartz — the author of the collection of short stories — wrote the first installment, “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” back in 1981 followed by “More Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark” in 1984 and finally, “Scary Stories 3: More Tales To Chill Your Bones” which was published in 1991.
The scary series has sold over seven million copies — and we are sure that with the film set to be made even more will be sold! Aside from the stories, the accompanying artwork by Stephen Gammell is enough to scare you so we can only imagine how amazing and terrifying the upcoming movie will be.
No word yet on when the film is planning on being released, but we certainly can’t wait!
