‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Sequel Spoilers
Chrissie Fit (Teen Beach Movie) joins the cult favorite cast of Pitch Perfect 2, along with newbie Hailee Seinfeld who both play new Barden Bellas.
HollywoodLife.com caught up with the actress, 30, at the Latina magazine’s “30 Under 30” party on Nov. 13 in Los Angeles, Calif., and she spilled all about the rivalries, the music and the oh-my-god behind-the-scenes moments.
‘Pitch Perfect 2’: Q&A With Chrissie Fit
HollywoodLife.com: So, Pitch Perfect 2. It’s been Secret City out there.
Chrissie: “It’s Secret City, and I’m so scared to say anything about it. I play one of the new Barden Bellas. I play Florencia Fuentes, which they call her Flo, and I am a foreign exchange student from South America.
Are the Bellas and the Treblemakers still enemies?
Chrissie: “You know what, there is not as much of a rivalry between them, as there was in the first one, but they are there and they are so amazing. I was able to sneak in when they were doing one of their performances and was in awe of how much joy and love they put into their number. But yeah, they’ll be back and there are so many cool fun surprises and really cool cameos in the second part.”
Is some of the music currently on the radio?
Chrissie: “There is music from the past, present and future. There is a new song and it’s really, really great. The first one was so amazing and I was a huge fan of it. That’s why I was so passionate about getting in the second movie. Everything is just bigger, better, more hilarious. I can’t wait for people to see it. Bella bootcamp is no joke. It is real. I experienced it. It’s crazy.”
Who was your BFF on set?
CF: “I get along with all of them. Right away, I really bonded with Hailee Steinfeld because she was another new Bella. If you go back and see any of our snapchats, we used to takeover while we were filming and have the most fun ever. I love all of those girls — Brittany Snow and Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson — every one of them has a special place in my heart.”
Did any of the girls help prepare you for the role or in Bella bootcamp?
Chrissie: “Oh yeah. Everybody was there from the get-go. Anna Kendrick, I was just in awe of her and her professionalism. She literally learned all the dance and all the music in a day. And I was just like, ‘Who are you? You are a robot. I hate you and love you so deeply.’ But yeah they were all so welcoming and so helpful.”
Does Hailee sing?
CF: “Hailee sings, yeah. She has such a really cool different kind of voice, very singer-songwritery voice. It’s really cool. You guys are going to really enjoy it. And I am the smallest one but I am singing the bass line in every song.”
What was it like working with Elizabeth Banks as the director?
Chrissie: “I call Elizabeth Banks my hero because she is so incredible, so amazing. I was so blessed and fortunate to be working with her. Not only is she hilarious and making sure you are the funniest you can be, she is also making sure you look good — which is so weird because nobody gives a crap about that.”
Was she stopping to fix your hair in between takes?
Chrissie: “Yeah! She was like, ‘Chrissie, you look a little crazy right now. Let’s get hair and make up.’ Well she never said it like that, but basically. And it was so refreshing and so nice and she is so good at directing. It’s insane. She knows her vision, knows what she wants, comes up with the coolest new things. I was just like, ‘I want to be you when you grow up.’ I’m guessing you’re going to see her directing more stuff in the future — well, she should because she’s amazing.”
Pitch Perfect 2 hits theaters on May 15, 2015.
