The late reality star’s boyfriend, Ryan Anderson reveals the heart-breaking details about his life after her tragic suicide in August 2013.
In an interview the Nov. 17 issue of Sports Illustrated, New Orleans Pelicans forward, Ryan Anderson, 26, expressed how difficult life was after his Bachelor contestant girlfriend, Gia Allemand, 29, took her own life after a heated argument on Aug. 12, 2013. The facts may shock you.
Gia Allamand’s Suicide: Boyfriend Speaks Out
The basketball player tells the magazine that it was, “the most painful experience of [his] life.” Ryan was the first to find Gia after she committed suicide by hanging herself with a cord tied to her staircase.
According to the New Orleans Police report, Gia was unresponsive as Ryan tried undoing the cord. We can’t imagine how horrifying that must have been.
Unable to cope with the pain of her loss alone, Ryan moved in with his family and needed their constant attention. He sought comfort in prayer and reading the Bible, but still contemplated whether there was anything he could have done to help Gia’s volatile temperament.
Ryan Tries Being Positive
Gia shot to fame on her stint on The Bachelor and won over viewers with her honest and down to Earth self. In the interview, Ryan discusses Gia’s motivation behind her death.
“Anyone who knows Gia knows that selfish was the last thing she was,” he said. “She would never want to cause anyone suffering. She just wanted to escape the pain.” So sad.
He also recounts happier times, describes the minute he first saw her, recalling that she was dressed in a long green dress at the hotel they were both staying in at the Bahamas.
We hope that Ryan continues to be strong through all this pain and moves on from this tragedy.
