Ariana and Jessie J have already proved that they make a great team with their super successful song ‘Bang Bang’, and now it looks like they’ll have another joint hit on their hands — a remake of Brandy and Monica’s 1998 chart-topper ‘The Boy Is Mine’!
Hitmaker Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, one of the writers behind Brandy and Monica‘s duet about a two-timing boyfriend, reportedly wants Ariana Grande, 21, and Jessie J, 26, to put their own twist on the track!
Jessie J & Ariana Grande: Remake Of Brandy & Monica’s Song ‘The Boy Is Mine’?
Rodney is working on an album, due out next year, that will include some of the many hit songs he’s produced, and at the top of that list is “The Boy Is Mine”!
“Next year is my 20-year anniversary and I’m doing a very special project. Some originals as well as reimagined hits. So for example, I’ll do the “The Boy Is Mine” with Ariana and Jessie J,” Rodney, 37, reveals in a new interview with Hits Daily Double.
We can’t think of two more perfect artists for the job! We think Ari and Jessie will bring a fiesty, fun new flavor to the catchy tune — plus, can you imagine how awesome the new video will be?!
Sam Smith Remaking Whitney Houston’s ‘It’s Not Right But It’s Okay’
That’s not the only remake we have to look forward to — Rodney is also working with the amazingly talented Sam Smith, 22, who will be doing a new version of Whitney Houston‘s 1999 hit “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay.”
“Sam told me [that] was the song that made him want to sing,” Rodney spills. “When I asked him if he’d be a part of this project he was like, ‘No one else can do that song but me!’ Sam’s the truth. He has a great heart and he’s genuine. His music speaks for who he is. This is a project I’m really looking forward to.”
