So sad! Big Bang Hank, known as ‘the grandmaster with 3 MCs that shock the house for the young ladies’ passed away around 2 am on Nov. 11.
Sugarhill Gang rapper, Big Bank Hank, whose real name was Henry Jackson, passed away in the New York City area at the young age of 57. He rose to fame in 1979, when the Sugarhill Gang, which also includes Wonder Mike and Master Gee, became the first hip hop act to have a hit single with “Rappers Delight.”

“So sad to hear of our brother’s passing. Rest in peace Big Bank,” Wonder Mike and Master Gee told TMZ about the death on Nov. 11. Big Bank Hank was one of the original founders of the group in 1977.
David Mallie, who manages the group’s two remaining living members, confirmed the death, telling Fox411 that the two remaining members of the band had been in contact with Hank before his death.
“[Wonder Mike and Master Gee] had been in contact with him in the past year They had some great times and created history,” he said.
