So devastating. Andrew Fryberg, a victim of the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting and shooter Jaylen Fryberg’s cousin, died on Nov. 7. Andrew is now the fourth victim to die as a result of the awful shooting.
Andrew Fryberg passed away on Nov. 7, two weeks after the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting on Oct. 24. The 15-year-old student was shot in the head by his own cousin, Jaylen Fryberg, 15, and had been fighting for his life in the hospital since the horrifying day of the shooting. This leaves only one surviving victim as a result of the shooting. So sad.
Andrew Fryberg Dead
Andrew died on Nov. 7 from injuries he sustained in the Oct. 24 Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting, Harborview Medical Center officials said, KING 5 News reports. Andrew had been shot at close range by Jaylen.
The hospital also shared the following statement from Andrew’s family:
“We express our thanks for the amazing support from the community, as well as from everyone around the world that have been praying for us all through this tragic event.
We also want to say a special thank you to all the amazing staff that have cared for our son and brother here in the pediatric intensive care unit at Harborview.
Our family is overwhelmed with the love and care that has been provided to our loved one during this time and you all will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
But we also ask that you respect our privacy at this time of our deep loss.”
According to CNN, Don Hatch, the grandfather of one of the wounded, said Jaylen was the cousin of two of his shooting victims — one being Andrew and the other, Nate Hatch, 14. “All three of them are cousins, and they live right close to each other,” Don said.
Don also said his grandson, Nate, was close friends with everyone involved in the shooting, including Jaylen, the shooter. He added that the group was nearly inseparable and they all just recently went to prom together, where Jaylen was crowned Homecoming Prince.
This leaves Nate as the only surviving victim of the shooting. Zoe Galasso, 14, Gia Soriano, 14, and Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, have all sadly passed away. Jaylen died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the the scene of the shooting.
Andrew Fryberg & Shooter Jaylen Fryberg Fighting Over A Girl Before Shooting?
Bella Panjeli, a friend of one of the female victims, claims Jaylen was furious with his cousin Andrew over a possible relationship with Zoe.
“I heard he asked her out and she rebuffed him and was with his cousin,” Bella told Reuters. “It was a fight over a girl,” Bella also said.
Jaylen tweeted his frustration about someone on Twitter in Sept. 2014. He tweeted, “Did you forget she was my girlfriend?” This was followed by, “Dude. She tells me everything. And now. I f**king HATE you! Your no longer my “Brother”!”
Jaylen and Andrew acted like brothers towards each other, according to a relative.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in this tragic shooting.
