Lorde’s Birthday: ‘Royals’ Singer Turns 18 On Nov. 7 — Happy Birthday — Pics
While Lorde hasn’t had a hit as huge as “Royals,” which was released back in June 2013, her year has been nothing to sneeze at. Her latest single, “Yellow Flicker Beat,” will appear on the Mockingjay soundtrack. No small feat in and of itself considering the absolutely massive success of the Hunger Games soundtrack, but Lorde is also curating the soundtrack! She’ll be featuring an eclectic mix of artists like Charli XCX, Grace Jones, The Chemical Brothers, and more.
Lorde’s place in pop culture was further cemented when South Park parodied her earlier this year. She took it in stride, though, telling a reporter that she loved the parody — even singing a bit of the song that appeared on the show!
Lorde’s Personal Life
As for her personal life, Lorde is still dating photographer James Lowe, 25. They keep their relationship pretty private, but every now and then they’ll be photographed together or they’ll post about each other on Instagram. On Nov. 6, he posted a pretty adorable pic of her on a dinner date — could they be celebrating the fact that their relationship is now legal in the state of California?!
Or, could they have been celebrating the release of her video for “Yellow Flicker Beat“? In true Lorde style, the just-released video is as dark and moody as the song itself.
We totally love Lorde’s style and sense of individuality. As anyone might expect from a BFF of Taylor Swift‘s, 18-year-old Lorde is not afraid to be herself or to speak her mind, and we love her for that. Happy birthday, girl!
