This little girl sure looked happy to be found! After 22 hours roaming the woods in the cold, a police dog found the 2-year-old with nothing but a missing boot.
Brooklyn Lilly, 2, is one brave little girl. After wandering into the woods unnoticed, she braved over 22 hours in the cold, dark woods until one very well-trained police dog found her. Despite being all alone, the little girl was all smiles after her ordeal and even told police that she loved being in the woods.
Little Girl Rescued By Police Dog After Disappearing In The Woods
What a lucky little girl she is.
Brooklyn wandered away from an elderly relative who was caring for her around 2 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in Tawas City, Michigan, which is when she went missing in a nearby wooded area. That night friends and family feared the worst when temperatures dropped to nearly 39F that night, reports local news station WNEM.
Almost 24 hours later, a police dog approached her and she happily walked right up to the pup to say hello. That’s when the officer with the dog, Assistant Fire Chief Jeffrey Seyfried, scooped the dirty little girl up and wrapped her in a sweater to warm her up.
Once out of the woods, Brooklyn was all smiles and even told police that she “loved” the woods and being in the woods. Maybe she is the next Snow White!
Brooklyn Only Had A Scratched Nose & Missing Boot
To further add to Brooklyn’s luck, when she was discovered she was completely unharmed.
Aside from a tiny scratch on her nose and a missing boot, she was totally fine. As a precaution, she was checked out at a local hospital anyway.
“She was bundled up in her jacket and when the team walked up to her, she started giggling. She actually told one of the guys that she loved it in the woods,” said the Assistant Fire Chief.
We love that this story had such a happy ending. Hopefully, relatives will keep a closer eye on Brooklyn so she doesn’t go playing in the woods again without supervision!
