That journey is the focus of her first book, True Love ( Penguin, $17.97). We’ve read it, and it’s great! Jennifer Lopez: Opens Up On Split From Marc Anthony & Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez, 45, has had one of the most epic careers in Hollywood; films, American Idol , a monster Dance Again world tour plus two beautiful kids, and the most bodacious booty in the business. But the truth is, Jennifer reveals that she’s spent most of her adult life in search of the kind of love that would fill her heart and make her feel complete.
With the release of her first book, True Love, she opens up about the pain she felt during each of her tumultuous relationships, from her infamous failed engagement to Ben Affleck, now 42, to the demise of her ‘picture perfect ‘ 7 year marriage to Marc Anthony, 46.
When she and Afflect split just days before their huge Hollywood wedding, “It felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest,” Jennifer writes and confesses that she believed the only cure for her broken heart was to find love again. Three days after the split, Marc Anthony, an old friend, rode back into her life, like a Prince Charming to the rescue, and they were married just five months later.
Jennifer Lopez: Smart, Sexy, And Has Real Love — For Herself
Sadly, her effort to have a ‘forever’ marriage ended the day she broke down in tears and realized that she could no longer ‘ be married to Marc.” Of her failed marriage Jennifer writes; ” I really thought I had done everything I could — as a wife, as a partner, and as a mother to his children. What sense did it make to keep suppressing my own feelings of what was missing in a relationship?”
And that’s when the Jenny from the Block had her a-ha moment, an epiphany about how she needed to learn to love herself, before she could have a successful love with any man.
It was that mind blowing realization that would inspire her to write this memoir. “What was loving yourself, anyway?” she pens. “But now I’ve discovered that it’s the key to life — because it’s the key to loving someone else and allowing others to love you.” So beautifully said!
All of these juicy tidbits are just the tip of the iceberg, though. Jennifer has much more to say about living, loving and dancing again!
