Does Miranda ever take a break? The singer took the stage for the second time at the Country Music Association Awards alongside Little Big Town. They totally nailed it during their duet, ‘Smokin’ & Drinkin’.’
I’m not sure many more taklented people could join together on one stage — Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert were joined by a band in the background during a new song, “Smokin’ and Drinkin,'” which is on Miranda’s new album, Platinum. Let’s just say — they all looked so good, I’m not sure they ever smoke or drink!
Little Big Town & Miranda Lambert’s Performance At CMA Awards
What a fun song! Miranda, 30, showed a ton of different looks throughout the night — five different outfits and there drastically different hairstyles! She performed this one in a tiny black mini and alongside her good friends, Little Big Town — and this song couldn’t be more adorable.
“Natalie’s demos are so good, she’s such a great singer and so innovative, she inspires me as a singer, let alone a writer,” Miranda told Billboard about one of the song’s writers, Natalie Hemby. “When I heard that song, I felt like it was nostalgic, there’s a lot of nostalgia and looking back on this album, thinking about where you were and what makes you who you are.”
She also went on to say that this was a brand new kind of song for her.
“I’ve never done a song like this, leave it to me to take a party song and make it sad,” she said. “Just the other day we were doing a pasture party for my friend, we literally set the pasture on fire, people were smoking, we were drinking, my blue jeans smelled like smoke, and I said, ‘this is what that song is about.’ Anybody of any age can relate to it.”
