Kendrick Lamar, 27, and Drake‘s longstanding feud seems to have finally come to an end! On Nov. 4, the “Backseat Freestyle” rapper stopped by Power 105.1 to discuss his sophomore album, his hit single “i” and his rumored fight with Drake which he claims, “wasn’t no issue from the jump.”
Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s Feud — Addressed In A Brand New Interview
Kendrick definitely seemed not to be too bothered by his rumored feud. According to Music Times, he said, “Oh my goodness. People need to let that go,” he said. “Yeah we spoke. It wasn’t no issue from the jump. I think people talk about beef, it’s just a whole ‘nother dynamic. I can’t see myself going bar for bar with Drake. We’re two different type of artist. People will say he say she say all the time.”
They are both huge stars in the music world — and maybe now that the air has been cleared they will team up and release a song together.
Kendrick just released the video for his new song, “i” but he has not revealed when his sophomore album will be released. Music Times reports that while his debut album was highly successful, he is not worried about the sophomore slump.
“It’s not hard because when you look at the simple things in life, when we don’t realize how big of an issue they are, that’s a whole ‘nother subject matter to talk about,” Kendrick dished. “It can be something as simple as respect.”
During an interview with Fader.com Kendrick said, “Shout out to Taylor Swift. You can’t put great music in different genres,” he revealed. “I enjoy great music outside of my own music all the time, so I definitely can see where she’s coming from when she says that she listens to the record, and it’s a great thing for her to acknowledge that and put that good energy out into the world like that.”
He then started singing Taylor’s hit song, “Shake It Off” — how cute!
