Country music stars, Carrie and Brad hosted the CMA Awards on Nov. 5 and they were full of disses, especially when it came to Taylor Swift. We want to know if you think they were too mean?
They did it again! Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley took the stage to host the 48th annual CMA Awards and it was pack-filled with disses, and the gender of Carrie’s baby was accidentally revealed as a baby boy too! But as the show went on, I couldn’t help but feel like I was overhearing the “cool kids” at the lunch table make fun of people.
Carrie Underwood & Brad Paisley Host 2014 CMA Awards & Dissed Everybody
First off, they joked about Ebola, the election, but the biggest diss of the night was when they made fun of Taylor Swift. They joked about her leaving country music to become a pop star and said that the world is suffering from Postpartum Taylor Disorder. Then they said that the government, mainly President Obama doesn’t care about Taylor and also said Faith Hill doesn’t even like her!
They both laughed and proceeded to say: “We’re just going to have to Shake It Off.” I think everyone is fair game but it almost felt like they went a little too far.
Taylor is an amazing performer no matter what genre she chooses to sing and I think it felt like they were kicking her out of the “cool kids club” and Carrie was Regina George to the max. I feel like it went too far and it was unfair. I’m glad Taylor wasn’t there in the audience because it would have been humiliating for her.
But this isn’t the first time they have dissed Taylor, in 2013, they looked right at her and Brad said: “Taylor, you’ve grown up right before our very eyes. And I want to thank you from a grateful industry, for never once humping a teddy bear or gyrating with Beetle Juice. I really appreciate it. I know that’s not easy.”
But they also made fun of Robin-Thicke‘s Beetle-Juice outfit that same year. They also sang a song called: “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” where Brad and Carrie joked about some of the biggest feuds ever.
“Kanye hates [Jimmy] Kimmel, and the Jonas Brothers aren’t getting along,” Carrie sang. “Sinead hates Miley, and Tom Petty hates us all.”
But I felt like this year, they were particularly mean, especially to Taylor.
