Grab a paper bag and get ready to hyperventilate, because Marvel has just released a sneak peek of ABC’s upcoming ‘Agent Carter,’ and it’s a whole two-and-a-half minutes long! Click to watch!
ABC’s Captain America spin-off Agent Carter won’t air until January 2015, but a sneak peek has just been released! Watch Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) have a clandestine chat by the docks with Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), while a real-life Jarvis (James D’Arcy) stands guard.
‘Agent Carter’ Sneak Peek: First Look At ‘Captain America’ Spin-Off — Watch Video
In the sneak peek, Howard reveals that his formula for “molecular nitromine” (whatever that is) has been acquired by some unsavory characters. While their relationship appears to be strictly business on the surface, there is clearly something romantic going on between these two. To demonstrate how small an amount of the compound could wipe out a city block, he gets in real close and grabs her hands. We see you, Stark. We see you. And your mustache.
Anyway, it’s Peggy’s job to find out who in New York City has the formula — “I figured you’d never have any trouble finding a man,” he tells her. “The trick is finding the right one,” she responds. Get it? Because single ladies are always looking for a man. We’re really looking forward to this show, but we hope that it won’t continually depict Peggy as some hapless spinster!
‘Agent Carter’ Picks Up One Year After The Events Of ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’
Agent Carter picks up one year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger. The war is over, Cap is on ice, and Peggy has to go from being a take-no-prisoners, troop-leading badass to a receptionist once the men return from battle.
Of course, she still kicks butt, but she needs to keep up a more docile cover at the Strategic Scientific Reserve while she undergoes secret missions for Howard Stark.
Peggy will undoubtedly have to deal with a whole bunch of sexist bullcrap, and I, for one, am greatly looking forward to the many verbal (physical) takedowns of the people who underestimate her.
Indeed, in the sneak peek, Jarvis reveals that he already suffered at Peggy’s hands — “The next time you approach a woman in a dark alley, you might introduce yourself,” she tells him. “I shall endeavor to remember that, provided my concussion isn’t too severe.”
In the next scene, we see a snippet of Peggy “at work” — that is, beating the crap out of some dude. Bless this show.
As if you need anything else to convince you that Agent Carter will be worth a watch, Chad Michael Murray will be making his return to television in the role of Agent Jack Thompson. Also joining him is Dollhouse alum and Whedonverse favorite Enver Gjojak as Agent Daniel Sousa; they’ll meet Peggy at the SSR.
HollywoodLifers, will you be tuning in to the midseason premiere of Agent Carter? Let us know!
