Chelsea said she’s quitting Instagram after the social media site deleted a topless photo she posted mocking an image of Russian President Vladimir Putin on horseback. See it here!
Chelsea Handler thinks Instagram is sexist for removing a topless photo she posted on Oct. 30. The comedian and former late night talk show host has decided to quit the photo sharing service, following their hasty, and what she calls an unjust, decision.
Chelsea Handler Quits Instagram After Topless Pic Controversy
Chelsea posted the photo (seen above), mocking Vladimir Putin, on her Instagram account with the caption: “Anything a man can do, a woman has the right to do better.”
The photo was quickly removed and Instagram informed Chelsea the post didn’t follow their guidelines.
“Remember that our community is a diverse one, and that your posts are visible to people as young as 13 years old,” the guidelines read. “While we respect the artistic integrity of photos and videos, we have to keep our product and the content within it in line with our App Store’s rating for nudity and mature content. In other words, please do not post nudity or mature content of any kind.”
Chelsea protested the policy, however, saying, “Taking this down is sexist. I have every right to show I have a better body than Putin.”
“If a man posts a photo of his nipples, it’s ok, but not a woman? Are we in 1825?” she added.
Chelsea tried reposting the image, but it was quickly removed again.
Chelsea Handler: Topless Pic Should Be Allowed
On Oct 31, Chelsea posted a photo on Instagram of her dogs dressed in Halloween costumes. In the caption, she announced her plan to quit Instagram.
“You can now find my dogs and my breasts on Twitter only where my followers have the right to choose what they say. Bye bye instablock,” she said.
Good for Chelsea! She’s really sticking up for what she believes in and many of us can learn from her.
