Mitch Hurwitz: Season 4 Of ‘Arrested Development’ To Be Re-Released

Get ready, ‘Arrested Development’ fans, because there’s more of the Bluth family coming your way! Well, sort of. Creator Mitch Hurwitz is going to re-release Season 4! Will you watch the re-cut version?

While Netflix has officially signed on to produce more Arrested Development, that dream has been stalled for some time due to the conflicting schedules of a very in-demand cast. But, what happens to a dream deferred? Well, Arrested creator Mitch Hurwitz has got the answer.

Mitch Hurwitz: ‘Arrested Development’ Season 4 Will Be Re-Cut Chronologically

As Mitch revealed in an interview with Pretentious Film Majors, he will be re-cutting Season 4 into chronological order.

Season 4 of Arrested Development premiered in May 2013 — seven long years after the finale of Season 3. The eternal development process was a result of the cast’s schedules, as was the eventual product.

The one-character-per-episode structure allowed the actors to jump in and out of filming, and provided for an out-of-sequence season that, while on purpose, was a bit jarring for diehard fans who had been hoping to see more of the same.

Of course, this won’t be the first time that Season 4 will be put into chronological order — one enterprising young Redditor cut the episodes together on the same day that Season 4 came out. The internet, man.

‘Arrested Development’ Season 4 Redux: Unclear Whether It Will Hit DVD Or Netflix (Or Both)

Mitch also talked about the future of Arrested Development; while Mitch and the cast have always said that a movie is an inevitability, it’s been as slow-going as everything else surrounding the ill-fated but critically acclaimed series.

“There’s more of a story that has to be told somehow,” Mitch confirmed. “We’ve got the whole story broken. And Season 4 was always meant to be act one of the three-act structure where everything goes sour.”

Mitch didn’t clarify on whether the new, re-cut season would hit Netflix or DVD; the Region 1 DVD release is still at large, so the U.S. and Canada can hope to look forward to the re-cut version making an appearance there.

HollywoodLifers, will you be watching the Season 4 redux? Or are you not willing to give the fourth season of your fave another try? Let us know!
